Brooklynite Hockey is in the process of manufacturing a stick designed for women and girls. This is not a stick that someone just slapped some pink colors on and called it a girly name. This is a stick made truly for women and girls, based on the female form. Weight, Lie, Diameter of the Shaft, and many other aspects of the stick and how it effects our game.
Brooklynite wants to know your opinion! What colors would you like to see this stick be? What are some good names? What do you think? Let us know!
Here are some Ideas that have already been talked about:
NAMES:
Enigma
FatGirl
COLORS:
Black, Metalic Silver, and Lime Green
Black and Gold
vigor- gives a meaning of intensity, growth (womens hockey is growing), active, strength...ive always thought this would be a good name for any stick
polaris- (technically, the brightest star in the solar system) but a name like this could show some sass
magnolia- the meaning of magnolia associates traits such as nobility and perseverance
colors: grey and black, red white and black, blue and white...and then I agree with Black and Gold...always a good color combo
While the discussion is to make a hockey stick designed for women - the first two items here are useless items like name and colors!
If you really going to make a stick for women - you need to concentrait on sticks made for people with heights of 5'0" to 5'8" and offer flex in the range of 65, 75, 85. Lie 5 and 6 are the most used. Most women are already used to the current colors available via Easton and Bauer - so there is no need to creating something totally different. The key would be to create a stick that has some reliability. Most composite sticks today don't last very long.
Lastly, I would hope these sticks would be offered at a reasonable price. The current vendors just drive up price to over $200.00 per stick and the sticks are just not work it.
You are spot on about the technology behind the stick. That is exactly what Brooklynite is trying to do. However, women and girls like the asthetic side of things too. So in an effort to make this the best stick for girls as well as the coolest stick out there, we've turned to you guys - the people who will use the stick - to help.
And with the onslaught of pink hockey sticks that claim to be made for girls - they seem to be manufactured by less that reliable companies and for some reason the general assumption is that we all want pink hockey sticks. Which frankly, I believe is false.
Also - i'm a little bored with easton and bauer. I want something new - something different. But at the same time something of quality that will benefit my game on the ice.
This is a huge tool... it needs to be good not girly! You are right on about its technology, it has to be taken serious and not about the money but about the player and her tool.
i agree about the sparkly - maybe not like "glitter" sparkle but a subtle sparkle. I belive one of Brooklynite's sticks already features a paint color like that. Kind of like the sparkle car paint they use "candy paint" i think it's called.
and maybe not on the whole stick - but just in the writing or something - or if only one of the colors was sparkled
Agreed. Definitely not glitter... I was thinking more like the paint color of my old Saturn. It was called black gold. The base color was black, but it had gold flecks in it that reflected the sunlight and looked really cool.
As far as color, why not have a simple black and white stick? It goes great with all uniforms that way. Maybe even have a worn out look to it, like some of the paint is chipping off. That way when it does start chipping, it won't look horrible.
I love the black, metallic silver, and lime green idea, it would match ICE Magazine's colors. I also think a white, black, and aqua color combination would look good too.
An appropriate name for the stick could be something coming from the Greek goddesses like Athena, Artemis, or something of that nature.
I also feel that the stick should be created to fit women between the heights of 5'0" and 6'0". It should be an appropriate flex as well.
