I think compeitive girls/women's hockey should have body checking. If girls learn from young like the boys, then it wouldn't be a big deal for them. And it's women playing against other women.... so the fact that we aren't as "strong" as men doesn...

Yah! I totally think girls should be allowed to check. I mean, you always see girls hitting and getting penatlies for it anyways so why not just let us hit! I think girls can easily take a hit.. most girls can, and I know that I can. Some girls or...

Keep up with our girls at the 2008 National Festival

64 girls from 21 states are participating in this year's National Festival at Lake Placid, NY. The festival ends Aug. 23. Check out Jess Koizumi's up close and personal pictures in her photo diary. And follow the game stats. These are the girl's representing us on the U18 select, U22 select, and ultimately the Olympic teams. (There's a great pic of Caitlin Cahow taking the front squat test.) Find them at http://www.usahockey.com//Template_Usahockey.aspx?NAV=TU_02_04&ID=24498

Hi Yvonne, so nice to hear from you. Yes, of course you can use the photo and comment. This day at the high school was so inspiring for everyone. It was called the Sharing the Dream, there were 5 different Olympians, Weightlifting, Swimmer, Gymnast and Hockey. I can't remember all of their names, but you went to the group that interested you most and they gave an in classroom discussion and then held an on-ice sort of clinic. This was totally great to be able to put you skates on sitting next to Angela. A lasting memory! At the end of the skate, she brought out all of her Olympic Medals and commented on each one of them. I believe this was a great motovational event, and if alot of professional athletes could share there experience with middle or high school kids, it would expand some of those kids minds that need that little extra help to believe in themselves. In todays society, we need to help steer our kids in the right direction and be confident in themselves. O.K., enough of that, but I really believe that this type of program can only be good for the kids.

No, we do not play spring hockey. We have not hit the ice since Nationals. But we are thinking of going tomorrow. There is local drop-in every Tuesday night. We are playing Softball right now, the season goes from April thru August. This is a very FUN thing, we try not to be competitive, and just have fun, although, we have won our first 3 out of 4 games. It's really nice, because we get to see everyone from the team even in the off season. Kinda weird how much we all get along and love being together, most teams are not like that. Well, talk soon. Tell Charli I said hi! Michelle

My daughters high school has a special Olympic presentation by 5 Olympic Women. They had a talk session, then a on-ice session at our rink. This was totally cool, I even got to skate with her. It was a lasting memory for myself and my daughter.

I like hockey more than basketball. I feel more apart of a team, great group of guys!! I also feel like I can help the team out a lot more in hockey. Don't get me wrong wheelchair basketball was fun but sled hockey is my life!!!
